Should I click A, B, C, or all the above in this question. I can’t decide well it could be A ,I mean B, or all above. Why do these questions have to be all multiple choice as I can’t remember which one it would be. I am just going choose the one that makes sense, click, and hope for the best. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I just failed my standardized test for the second time in order to obtain a professional license for a side hustle/gig to increase my monthly income. Please note this profession did not require to pass any tests before reforms and education requirements were put in place.
Now back to testing process, I had registered to take this exam at a testing center with a set time, what the registration does not tell you or maybe it ‘s just in the fine print as you need to be there a half-hour before your testing time. Okay, I could see 15 minutes but a half-hour, really it takes 30 minutes to sign in order to take a test. Well, I was wrong the testing center was like going to the airport, people walking in, and getting in line for check in. These individuals where taking all kinds of tests from the GMAT, medical, insurance, engineering, and whatever profession requires a license.
I don’t know about you, but taking an exam is stressful enough especially- when you need to reach a certain percentage to pass. Now, I have to wait in line to register, say my name, and show my driver’s license. Then instructed to have a seat and will call you in when we are ready. My name is called, have to put my personal belongings in a locker and I am fine with that. Then we go through the testing center security process very similar to going through TSA, empty your pockets, lift up your sleeves if wearing a long sleeve, and oh I need to check your glasses to make sure nothing is on them. Now pull down your mask, place your driver’s license next to it as your photo is taken. I am just here to take an exam, now enter the cubical farm with numbers 1 through 30 as you find your spot, your test will come up, and you have X amount of hours to get through it. How can anyone concentrate in this environment? Oh and if you look up at the ceiling, there about 25 cameras in this room. I want to get up and use the restroom but I do not want to go through the check out and in process. I saw one individual in a fluster as she left the room to go her locker and then wanted to recheck in but could not find her ID. The testing center people would not let her use a different ID.
Guess what my youngest did this week? Took standardized test for elementary school, subjects she has not even learned yet but her teacher instructed them to select the best answer. I don’t know about you but trying to select the best answer never goes my way it just lowers my confidence and while increasing my anxiety level. And there you go I just failed my test what a disappointment in hours of studying as I was so close reaching that percentage that was set. So, god bless the land of standardized testing.
